After a mental back and forth on whether I should release this or not, I woke up with the strong urge to go through with it. I feel the best way to get through is to put it in the art form. Shoutout to my brother @kingcainbishop for planting the seed in mind to continue to go through with it. Also, I’m taking my own advice here of not letting the music just sit on my hard drive doing nothing. So, with that…

Some reflections before 36.

The battle ain’t always with the external and existential. Most days, that battle is with the voice in your head and that person looking back at you in the mirror. The noise gets loud. But, how do you respond? That’s what makes a man.

Don’t let people treat you like an older version of who you used to be. Family, friends, anybody… You gotta get to know me all over again. Especially if it’s been years between contact. What you thought you knew, it ain’t that.

I’m ashamed to say that it took me to get in my 30s to be comfortable with advocating for myself. Nonetheless, I learned it. STAND UP FOR YOURSELF ALWAYS! Whatever consequences come behind it, that’s what it’s just going to have to be. Better to stand up for yourself than to regret it later.

I hope I to continue to align with people believe that in me, my dream and the vision I have for my music. The flame is a candle, but it’s there nonetheless. Biggest thing and a topic that comes up often in therapy is learning to ask for help and then accepting the help that is bestowed upon me.

Can’t lie, I been made at God. But that’s something I’m still navigating. Don’t care who judges that. First part is admitting it. I’m sure it’ll make sense at some point in time. But, until then, ball up top.
